Sun Muscat Sultanas – not your average sultana! – Health benefits.

Australian dried grapes are full of natural goodness.

Australian sun-dried grapes pack a mighty nutritional punch, making them a favourite among the health-conscious shopper. Less than one per cent fat, low in cholesterol and salt, and high in fibre, dried grapes are also an excellent source of antioxidants. Grapes are dried naturally by the sun, with no need for sulphur or drying chemicals, ensuring Australian sun-dried grapes will always have the flavour, texture and quality that consumers have come to love.

They are high in fibre, a great source of vitamins and antioxidants, and rich in essential minerals such as iron and potassium. They have virtually no fat or cholesterol and are low in sodium.

Dried grapes have a moderate to low glycemic index (GI), which means they provide a slow and steady rise in blood glucose levels for sustained energy. Research shows that including dried grapes in the diet may help with weight loss. Eating dried grapes can increase the release of leptin, a hormone that promotes satiety (a feeling of fullness) and helps control food intake. Their high fibre content can also help you feel fuller for longer, with the additional benefit of improving blood cholesterol levels.

Grapes are also a major source of phenols (plant chemicals with antioxidant activity) and resveratrol, which is believed to have anti-inflammatory and anti-tumour properties and be cardio-protective.
